Social Media Commenting Guidelines
The Ramapo Central School District welcomes community contributions to its social media feeds through the use of comments. By establishing a social media presence, the District seeks to share information about upcoming events, important dates and accomplishments with our community.

In administering the feeds, the District will abide by the terms of the respective platforms (Facebook, Twitter) and asks that fans/followers do the same. In general:

Be respectful. Personal attacks or negative comments/tweets aimed at specific individuals, employees or students are not permitted. This also includes respecting copyright and fair use laws: when discussing someone’s work, reference it and include a link (whenever possible).

Be appropriate. Comments/tweets should be suitable for an educational environment and fans/followers of all ages. Profanity is prohibited; users are advised to avoid language that is abusive or inappropriate, including remarks that are racist, sexist, sexually explicit or obscene. 

Be relevant. Comments/tweets should pertain to the topic at hand. Those that advertise or promote a product or service are not permitted; spam and commercial advertisements will be deleted. 

Be factual. Inaccurate, libelous or false information will be removed.

Community-contributed comments and tweets represent the opinion of the author, not the District. By commenting and tweeting, you recognize that your comments/tweets are your own, and that you hold the Ramapo Central School District and all subsidiaries and representatives harmless from any and all repercussions, damages, or liability.

All comments/tweets are monitored and reviewed during business hours to ensure compliance with commenting guidelines. The accounts administrators reserve the right to remove those which violate these guidelines in order to protect the privacy and rights of staff and students.
