Adding audio to a Google Site

Audio is very intrusive, so first consider: Does the audio file serve an educational purpose or is it merely creating "ambiance"? If you determine that an audio file is required, be sure that it doesn't play automatically and can be easily turned off.

To add the required audio file:
1. Upload the audio file to Google Docs.
2. Modify and use the code below by copying and pasting it into the site page HTML editor.
3. When the link is clicked, it will open a new page with a status bar for the file.

To practice, use the code below to post audio of Aretha Franklin's "Respect."

<pre><a href="https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B_aFLL2B4f5jODVmYmNmMTEtOTRmOC00MDJmLWI0NDktZTU1ZTkxNDMyMDA3&amp;export=mp3&amp;hl=en" target="_blank">RESPECT<br></a></pre>

Modifying the code
The color enhanced text shows where to make modifications. The red text will be the location of your uploaded audio file. Find it in the address bar after opening the file. Copy the URL for your file and replace the red text. The green text should be the name you give to your file.
