Grades 3 - 8 English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics
Each April students in grades 3 - 8 take the NYS assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics. These assessments are aligned with the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS). In their current format, they were first administered in 2013.
To help with the transition to the new curriculum and assessments, NYS has provided the following website as a resource for parents and families: http://www.engageny.org/parent-and-family-resources. Additionally, NYS provides parents and students guides for understanding the ELA and Math reports.
The following board reports include information relating to the Common Core - aligned Assessments:
2014 Assessment Report presented to the Board of Education 9/2/14
Academic Intervention Services (AIS) presented to the Board of Education 9/17/13

In June 2016 the first Common Core Algebra 2 Regents will be administered, and all 11th grade students will be required to take the Common Core English Regents.
